Windows 8 will have CERTAIN advantages over Android,but Android already has it’s own advantages over Windows 8.

I think Windows 8 will boost tablet sales. But i think there’s also a high chance that it’ll boost Android’s sales…

People use more and more their phones, because it’s easier and they can easily carry them around.
So Android have, and will increase it’s lead there.
M$ has long lost that train.
From there it’s about how Google will capitalize the bridge from Android to tablet and M$ will capitalize the bridge from Laptop/Desktop to tablet.

That said i think we’re all ‘forgetting’ another big player here: iPad
Whoever can afford an i Pad, buys it. Period. If they can’t, they then consider other options.

So, in the near future is Android for phones, iOS for Tablets and Windows for Desktops.

They don’t matter for ~90% of the users.

Linux does already have touch. Although, not as good as M$’s.
That said, i don’t care about touch. Most of people don’t care about touch. And most of the people that do care about touch, use other interfaces, when available.

What i expect in any new (Windows or other) OS release is nothing more that this:
 - More speed (and not just booting up!)
 - More security
 - More freedom to choose what tools i wan’t to use
